All railway modellers are invited to attend the 2016 New England Convention. The convention will provide an opportunity to exchange and learn modelling ideas and techniques, plus catch up with some old friends and make some new ones. The convention will again be held at the Armidale Bowling Club, Dumaresq Street Armidale NSW over 2 days, commencing on the Friday evening for registration, introduction and a get-to-know-you session and finishing on Sunday after a lunch to see you on your way. The weekend is structured to provide a range of different activities with attendees free to choose how they spend their time. There will be several different presentation sessions to choose from covering various aspects of railway modelling. For details click here.
Trade Stands and Layouts
There will be a small group of commercial traders represented, as per the invitation. Several relatively new layouts will be on display for modellers to inspect.
There will be a modelling competition with various categories. You will need to fill out both the Entry Form and the Judging Information Form (except the Points Awarded & Entry Number fields) and submit these at to the clerk at the convention venue.
Getting There and Accommodation
Armidale is located approximately half way between Sydney and Brisbane on the New England Highway, or 3 hours inland from Coffs Harbour. NSW TrainLink offers a daily rail service to Sydney. QantasLink and Regional Express offer regular services from Sydney to Armidale ariport. Bus services are also available from various departure points.
Accommodation is available at several excellent locations within Armidale and there are 3 or 4 motels within walking distance of the venue. Further information is available from the Armidale Visitor Information Centre or this list of nearby accomodation.
The cost for the two days which includes convention registration, morning teas and lunches, will be $165.00 per attendee and there will be a discount for those who register early. Please complete the Registration form and send it with your payment to arrive no later than Friday 28th October 2016.
